Effective date: March 30, 2026
Glance Search operates the website glancelivesearch.com and develops the Glance Live Search plugin (« the Plugin ») for WordPress and WooCommerce. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you visit our website, purchase a license, or use the Plugin on your WordPress site.
By using our website or the Plugin, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of our services.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Account & purchase information: When you purchase a license, we collect your name, email address, billing address, and payment details. Payments are processed securely by our payment partner; we do not store full credit card numbers.
- Support requests: When you contact us for support, we collect your name, email address, website URL, and the content of your message.
- Newsletter subscription: If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically via the Website
- Log data: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, date and time of access.
- Cookies: We use strictly necessary cookies for session management and optional analytics cookies (see Section 6).
1.3 Information Collected via the Plugin
Free Version
- Opt-in diagnostic data (Freemius SDK): During activation, you may choose to share non-sensitive diagnostic data such as your WordPress version, PHP version, active theme, server environment, and plugin settings. This data helps us improve compatibility and performance. This is entirely optional and can be opted out of at any time from the Plugin settings.
Pro Version
In addition to the optional diagnostic data above, the Pro version includes a built-in analytics module that collects search behavior data on your own WooCommerce store:
- Search queries: Terms entered by your customers in the search bar.
- Search metadata: Number of results returned, response time in milliseconds, language, active category filter.
- Click tracking: Product ID, product name, position in results, and the query that led to the click.
Important: This analytics data is stored exclusively in your own WordPress database (in custom tables wp_glse_analytics and wp_glse_clicks). We do not have access to this data, and it is never transmitted to our servers. You retain full control and ownership of this data. You can delete it at any time from the Plugin settings or by uninstalling the Plugin.
1.4 Information Collected via Freemius
License management, activation, updates, and optional usage tracking are handled by Freemius, our licensing partner. When you activate a license, Freemius may collect:
- Your site URL, WordPress version, PHP version, and server IP address.
- Your email address and license key.
- Plugin activation/deactivation events.
Freemius processes this data under their own Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review it.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- License delivery and management: To issue, activate, and validate your plugin license.
- Plugin updates: To deliver updates, security patches, and new features.
- Customer support: To respond to your support requests and troubleshoot issues.
- Product improvement: To understand usage patterns and improve plugin performance, compatibility, and features (only when you have opted in to diagnostic sharing).
- Communication: To send transactional emails (purchase receipts, license expiry reminders) and, if you have opted in, marketing emails about product updates.
- Legal compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, and legal processes.
3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process your personal data based on the following legal grounds:

- Legitimate interest: Processing necessary for our legitimate business interests, such as improving our products and preventing fraud (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

The Glance Live Search plugin does not set any cookies on your customers’ browsers. Search history is stored in the browser’s localStorage (not a cookie) and is entirely client-side — it is never transmitted to any server.
7. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:
- All data transmissions between the Plugin and our licensing servers use HTTPS/TLS encryption.
- AJAX endpoints are protected by WordPress nonces (CSRF protection) and IP-based rate limiting.
- All database queries use parameterized statements (
$wpdb->prepare()) to prevent SQL injection. - All user-facing output is properly escaped to prevent XSS attacks.
- The Plugin does not store any customer personal data (names, emails, addresses) — only anonymized search queries.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data (« right to be forgotten »).
- Restriction: Request that we limit the processing of your data.
- Portability: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Objection: Object to processing based on legitimate interest.
- Withdraw consent: Withdraw previously given consent at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email address listed in Section 12. We will respond within 30 days.
For store owners using the Plugin: If your customers request access to or deletion of their search data, you can export or delete analytics data directly from the Plugin’s Analytics tab in your WordPress dashboard.
9. International Data Transfers
Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside of your own, including the United States (where Freemius servers are located). When such transfers occur, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission.
10. Children’s Privacy
Our services are not directed to individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
